Ramayana title video starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi & Yash gets CBFC approval.
The wheels are officially in motion for Ramayana, Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious reimagining of the ancient Indian epic. The magnum opus, produced by Namit Malhotra and Prime Focus Studios, has just crossed a major milestone—its Title Announcement Video has been officially certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Titled Ramayana 3D: Title Announcement, the video received a ‘U’ certificate from the Mumbai Regional Office on May 5, 2025. Clocking in at 2 minutes and 36 seconds, the announcement video is expected to mark the beginning of the film’s promotional rollout, giving audiences their first glimpse into what is being touted as one of the most visually spectacular projects in Indian cinema.
The film, to be released in two parts, is targeting a Diwali 2026 premiere for Part 1 and Diwali 2027 for Part 2. Producer Namit Malhotra, who is also the Global CEO of Prime Focus Studios, has described Ramayana as a decade-long dream in the making. In an earlier social media post announcing the project, Malhotra wrote, “More than a decade ago, I embarked on a noble quest to bring this epic that has ruled billions of hearts for over 5000 years to the big screen.”
He went on to describe the film as the team’s “most authentic, sacred, and visually stunning” take on the Ramayana ever attempted. “Join us as we fulfill our dream of bringing our greatest epic to life with pride and reverence,” he added.
While official casting announcements are still pending, reliable industry buzz and set photos strongly indicate Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and KGF star Yash as Ravana. Yash has publicly confirmed his involvement, calling Ravana “one of the most fascinating” characters he’s had the opportunity to play. He also revealed that he is co-producing the film with plans to position it for global audiences.
With the title video now certified, fans can expect a powerful first impression of Ramayana to drop soon—likely setting the stage for one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious storytelling events yet.
