The heinous terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, has left everyone shaken to their core. The attack, which occurred on April 22, claimed the lives of 26 civilians, leaving the nation in mourning. Voices from all over the world, including citizens, ministers, global leaders and celebrities, have come forward to condemn the deadly attack and express their solidarity. Now, television actress Saumya Tandon has shared a moving note on social media.
Known for her role in the sitcom Bhabiji Ghar Pe Hain, the actress was among the notable attendees at the launch of a collection by the Kashmiri brand Tul Palav. She attended the event wearing a traditional red outfit adorned with intricate golden detailing throughout, which she accessorised using a delicate pair of earrings. During the event, which took place in Mumbai on Monday, April 28, Saumya was interviewed by Instant Bollywood, where she condemned the attack in Pahalgam.
Saumya said, “Bohot takleef hoti hai, bohot bohot bohot zyada takleef hoti hai kyunki ye pehli baar hua hai ki tourist ke upar attack hua hai aur religion ke basis pe hua hai. Toh bohot hi dukh ho raha hai mujhe and yakeen nahi ho raha ki aisa bhi ho sakta hai (It hurts, it hurts a lot because this is the first time that tourists were attacked and that too on the basis of their religion. I feel very sad and still cannot believe something like this would happen).”
She further talked about how the attack destroyed the livelihood of Kashmiris, adding, “Main toh bohot Kashmir jaati hun aur aisa kabhi bhi nahi hua hai ki tourist ke saath aisa kiya jai. Thik hai agar aap Kashmir ke liye jo log kuch karna chah rahe hai, jis bhi maqsad se karna chah rahe hai, wo actually Kashmiri logon ke pet pe laat maar rahe hai kyunki Kashmir ka main jo livelihood hai logon ki wo tourism hai, wo unhone khatam kar diya (I go to Kashmir often and never saw this happening to tourists. Fine, if some wanted to do something Kashmir, whatever their motive may be, but they actually snatched livelihood from Kashmiris because tourism was their first source of income).”
Saumya then asked a thought-provoking question, saying, “Toh unko kya mila ye kar ke? Kya haasil kiya? Kya proof karna chah rahe (What did they gain by doing this? What did they achieve)?” She concluded, “Bohot sharmnaak baat hai aur bohot dukh hota hai (It was a very shameful act, and it deeply saddens me).”
Speaking of her work front, the 40-year-old actress and TV presenter quit Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain in 2020 after five years. She was last seen on-screen in the project Radio Ghaint.
