Jamai No 1 continues to captivate audiences with its engaging storyline and unexpected plot twists. The Zee5 show features Abhishek Malik and Simaran Kaur as the main leads. In the upcoming episode, the viewers will see Neel Paranjape (Abhishek) trying to kidnap his mother-in-law Kanchan (Papia Sengupta) at gunpoint, disguising himself with a scary ‘Joker’ mask. While the mask adds a serious tone to the show, it was also a big source of entertainment for the cast members off-camera.
In a recent interview, Abhishek revealed that after the shoot ended, he pulled some light-hearted pranks on his co-stars as well as the crew members on the sets. “I couldn’t help myself after the shot. I began sneaking up on people wearing the mask, first my co-stars, then the background artists, and some of the staff members. The funniest part was that even though they knew it was me, they still got scared!” he said, as quoted by ETimes.
Abhishek further emphasised that playing such pranks helps to bring everyone closer. “I must have worn that mask twenty times that day in order to catch them off guard. It turned into a great little prank spree. Moments like these make the long shoot days more pleasurable since they keep the energy level high and bring us all closer together as a team,” the actor explained.
Not just this, Abhishek also shared that he has long been fascinated by the Joker’s unpredictable nature and wearing the mask felt like a small tribute to one of his favourite actors, Joaquin Phoenix, who received an Oscar for his performance as the character.
The actor added, “I’ve always been intrigued by the Joker; there’s something unexpected and intense about him that stays with you. I remember watching Joker and being thrilled by Joaquin Phoenix’s performance. So when I got to know that I’d be wearing a Joker mask for a sequence, I was thrilled. Of course, this wasn’t the full makeup look as seen in the film—I had the mask version.”
Backed by Prateek Sharma and Parth Shah’s Studio LSD, Jamai No 1 also features actors like Aarti Bhagat, Saniya Nagdev, Shruti Gholap, Jinal Jain and Vora Dushyant in significant roles.
