Shubhangi is mourning the loss of her ex-husband, Piyush Poore, who passed away on April 19.

Shubhangi Atre is mourning the loss of her ex-husband, Piyush Poore. He passed away on April 19 due to liver complications. The actress, best known for her role as Angoori Bhabhi in the popular show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, had married Piyush in 2003, though the two separated in 2022. As she copes with this personal loss, a past interview of Shubhangi has resurfaced online, in which she reflected on the importance of life.
Speaking to Pinkvilla, in 2023, she also expressed grief at losing her close friend and former co-star Deepesh Bhan. Reflecting on how his death affected her, she shared, “That day, I realised that life is extremely fragile.” She went on to emphasise the importance of understanding the true meaning of life, encouraging everyone to support and embrace one another. Shubhangi also advised people to live their lives with honesty and positivity.
On being asked whether her professional life was affected due to her personal matters, she said, “It is not easy, but it is not too difficult either. Because I’ve noticed that when I dress up as Angoori Bhabhi, I forget everything. When I wear the costume, I’m Angoori Bhabhi. My brain then works like hers. I believe that actors must learn this at some point, and that we do so with time. When I was starting, a lot of things affected me, but I eventually learnt.”
Talking about her ex-husband, he worked as a digital marketing professional. The ex-couple shares a daughter. Confirming her ex-husband’s death, the actress told TOI, “Your thoughtfulness during this time means a great deal to me. I request you to give me some time to talk about this.”
As per a source close to the actress, Shubhangi and Piyush were not in touch at the time of his death. “She is mourning. She resumed shooting for Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai on Sunday,” the source said.
During a previous interview with Bombay Times, the actress opened up about her emotional breakdown and said, “It was painful. I was completely invested in that relationship. Piyush and I eventually formed irreconcilable differences. However, now that I’m out of that marriage, I feel relieved, like if a big burden has been lifted. I want to focus on my daughter and give her a happy and secure atmosphere.”
The duo finalised their divorce in February 2025.
