US Vice President JD Vance, who is on a four-day India trip, visited Amber Fort as he arrived in Jaipur on Tuesday along with his family. During his stay in the pink city, the US Vice President, along with family, is likely to visit other popular sites in the city, including Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar. Vance is also set to meet the Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Governor Haribhau Kisanrao Bagade.
The Vance family was welcomed in traditional Rajasthani style at Jaipur’s Amber Fort. They were greeted with a traditional Rajasthani dance performance and elegantly decorated elephants.
The US Vice President, accompanied by his wife Usha Vance, and their three children — Ewan, Vivek and Mirabel — are staying at Hotel Rambagh Palace.
Vance is scheduled to deliver a lecture on US-India relations at the Rajasthan International Centre (RIC) later in the day, which will be attended by diplomats, Indian officials, academics, and policy experts.
Ahead of the US Vice President’s visit, tight security arrangements were made across Jaipur. In fact, Chief Minister Sharma reviewed the preparations for the visit in a meeting on Saturday, a Rajasthan government official told news agency PTI.
They are scheduled to leave for Agra on Wednesday morning and then return to Jaipur in the afternoon, as he is scheduled to visit the City Palace in the Rajasthan capital. The Vance family will then depart for the US early Thursday morning.
JD Vance on Monday visited the Central Cottage Industries Emporium in New Delhi along with his family and also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence. Following his meeting with PM Modi, he said it was an “honour” to meet the Indian Prime Minister and called him a “great leader”.
Vance also expressed gratitude for hosting his family at the PM’s residence in New Delhi and said that PM Modi was “incredibly kind to my family.”
