A shocking new video footage has emerged from a school in Singapore where a major fire broke out on Monday, showing emergency responders rushing to evacuate students, including Mark Shankar Pawanovich, the son of Indian actor and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister, Pawan Kalyan. Pawan has flown down to Singapore with his brother actor Chiranjeevi to be by Mark’s side.

The incident occurred at a school in the River Valley area of Singapore, reportedly engulfing the second and third floors of the building. The viral video captures firefighters breaking windows and assisting panicked students and staff out of smoke-filled classrooms. Thick plumes of black smoke can be seen billowing from the upper floors.

The blaze is said to have claimed the life of one child and injured 19 others, including Mark Shankar.

Emergency crews, including the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), immediately arrived at the location and worked to control the fire.

The fire broke out at a three-storey shophouse on River Valley Road, located near Singapore’s central business district, where approximately 30 children were attending workshops in cooking, theatre, and robotics. Singapore’s Home Affairs Minister K. Shanmugam confirmed that a 10-year-old girl tragically lost her life in the incident, while around 20 others — including 15 children — sustained injuries.

Mark Shankar, the youngest son of Pawan Kalyan and Anna Lezhneva, sustained burn injuries on his arms and legs and is experiencing respiratory complications due to smoke inhalation. He is currently undergoing medical treatment. Speaking to the media, Pawan Kalyan shared, “He will need to undergo a bronchoscopy. The smoke inhalation may have long-term effects.”

In a statement to the press, Pawan Kalyan confirmed that his son is under medical supervision and “gradually recovering.” He also expressed gratitude for the swift response by Singaporean authorities and revealed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally reached out to offer support through the Indian High Commission.

In a statement released on April 8, 2025, Pawan Kalyan stated, “Our youngest son, Mark Shankar, was injured in a school fire in Singapore and is being treated in hospital. He is gradually recovering.”

The actor-politician shared that Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally called him after hearing the news, offering words of support that “gave courage” during the difficult time. He added that the Indian High Commissioner in Singapore was instructed to extend necessary assistance. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also reached out to him over the phone.

He expressed gratitude to everyone who prayed for Mark’s recovery, including politicians, actors, and well-wishers who conducted poojas at temples on his behalf. Concluding his message, Pawan Kalyan said, “Mark Shankar is gradually recovering due to these good-hearted wishes and blessings. I sincerely thank everyone.”

Pawan Kalyan shares two children—son Mark and daughter Polena—with his third wife, Anna Lezhneva.
