Priyanka Chopra paid tribute to Shefali Jariwala, extending her condolences to her husband Parag Tyagi and family. Priyanka and Shefali worked together in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, which also starred Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. Popularly known as the Kaanta Laga girl, she passed away on Friday night.
Priyanka Chopra took to her Instagram stories and posted a solo photo of Shefali. Mourning her, she extended condolences to her husband Parag and family. She wrote, “So shook. She was too young. Sending condolences to Parag and the family (sic).” Take a look:
Shefali Jariwala made a memorable appearance in the 2004 romantic comedy film, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. Though her role was brief, she brought her signature charm and screen presence to the film, riding high on the popularity of her iconic music video Kaanta Laga, which also played in the background during her cameo.
Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan recently called out paps and the media or their coverage of Shefali Jariwala’s death. The Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari actor wrote, “Again one more passing of a soul being insensitively covered by the media. I just don’t understand why do u have to cover someone’s grief everyone looks so uncomfortable with this how is this benefitting anyone. My request to my friends in the media this isn’t the way someone would want their final journey covered.”
Last night, after Shefali’s funeral, a devastated Parag appeared in front of the media and requested privacy with folded hands. He also said, “Meri pari ke liye pray kijiyega aap sab log, please.” Parag was surrounded by police personnel while he urged the media to pray for Shefali’s soul to rest in peace.
How did Shefali Jariwala die?
Shefali Jariwala passed away late Friday night, between June 27 and 28. She was rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Mumbai by husband Parag Tyagi, and three close aides. She was declared brought dead.
Initial reports of Shefali’s death claimed she died of cardiac arrest. However, Mumbai Police stated that her body was found in her apartment and her mortal remains were sent to Cooper Hospital for a postmortem. The reason behind her death couldn’t be confirmed as yet.
