Sunjay Kapur’s wife Priya Sachdev opened up about her bond with Karisma Kapoor and their blended family in a throwback interview.
Priya Sachdev says she, Karisma Kapoor and their children have found peace as a blended family.
Following the sudden death of industrialist Sunjay Kapur during a polo match in England earlier this month, an older interview with his third wife, Priya Sachdev, has resurfaced online. In the emotional conversation, Priya reflected on their blended family, her equation with Sunjay Kapur’s children from his previous marriage with Karisma Kapoor, and how they all worked toward building harmony over the years.
Priya, who shares a son, Azarius, with Sunjay, and has a daughter, Safira, from her previous marriage with hotelier Vikram Chatwal, spoke warmly of her bond with Samaira and Kiaan – Sunjay’s kids with Karisma. “Our two daughters are so close also, so besides our little boy when he was born the two girls bonded and that created the bond between Kiaan as well and my little boy Azarius is a big fan of his older brother. Samaira and Kiaan are also from a broken home so for them also their EQ is also very high.”
In the same interview with Kin and Kindness on YouTube, Priya also discussed her relationship with Karisma Kapoor. She revealed, “So we have family groups. We’ve created a Kapoor family group and then they have another Kapoor family group with their mother… and with their mother also Sanjay and I have had many conversations together. I call her Lolo. We invited her for tea over to the house and then after that from one tea led to a dinner and she has also joined us on a few family vacations.”
Priya said that the children played a key role in uniting everyone. “The children have also requested me, saying, ‘Mama doesn’t have a plan… can we invite her?’ Because we don’t want her to feel [left out]… and I was like of course she’s more than welcome because I’m confident about my relationship with my husband and she’s in a very good space and she wants the children to bond with the father and so everyone’s grown out of their own insecurities and issues and we’ve had conversations like it’s not about us anymore or our insecurities or our issues.”
She concluded, “Now the children are more important. We made choices, we brought these innocent children into this world and our responsibility now is to give them a good life where they feel safe, loved, appreciated, and understood.”
