After much speculation over whether Pakistani actress Hania Aamir is part of Diljit Dosanjh’s Sardaar Ji 3, the recently released trailer confirmed her prominent role. Soon after, Diljit faced massive backlash for collaborating with a Pakistani actor amid heightened tensions following the Pahalgam terror attack. Sardaar Ji 3, directed by Amar Hundal, is set for an overseas release on June 27, but will not release in Indian theatres. While Diljit hasn’t directly reacted to the issue, his recent statement about ‘looking beyond nations’ is going viral. Two days ago, he uploaded an interview with Grammy with Recording Academy President Panos A. Panay, in which he said that music unites nations, and that he feels people need to look beyond nations and focus on Mother Earth.
In the video, shared two days ago on his YouTube channel, Diljit Dosanjh spoke about how art has no boundaries. “Countries are at war, and we don’t have control over these things. But I believe music is something that unites nations. I feel blessed to be part of something that spreads love across nations,” he said.
He further added, “I think we need to look beyond nations and focus on Mother Earth. All these borders are part of the same Mother Earth, and I belong to her.” He also quoted a line taught by his Guru, and said, “’Hum aadmi hain ek daami’, meaning ‘We humans are here only for a brief moment.’ We are here for very limited time, we should not waste our time fighting with each other.”
Meanwhile, BN Tiwari, President of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), has slammed Diljit for working with Hania, and demanded a complete ban on all his future projects. In a conversation with Hindustan Times, FWICE President said that they are imposing a strict ban on all future films, songs, and projects involving him. “We have called for a strict ban on all upcoming films, songs or any other sort of projects. We will also issue a formal letter on the same today. Along with Diljit, we have also called for a ban on the producers of the film regarding all their upcoming films,” he said.
