Indian armed forces on Monday engaged suspected drones spotted along the International Border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, the Army said, adding that there is no cause for alarm.
This fresh incident of drone activity comes just hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first address to the nation after Operation Sindoor and the meeting between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan.
“A small number of suspected drones have been observed near Samba in J&K. They are being engaged,” the Army stated.
A video clip of Indian forces intercepting one of the drones was shared by ANI on X. In the footage, red streaks are visible in the sky and explosions can be heard as India’s air defence systems respond.

As a precaution, several areas across Jammu and Kashmir—including Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, and Jammu—experienced blackouts. Lights were switched off at the Mata Vaishno Devi cave shrine and along its pilgrimage route, sources said.
Blackouts Imposed In Parts Of Punjab
Similar precautionary blackouts were put in place in Punjab’s Amritsar and Hoshiarpur districts. Electricity was also turned off in parts of Jalandhar, officials confirmed.
“As a precautionary measure, lights have been switched off in some areas around Suranassi as there have been reports of drone sightings. We are verifying them. There is no (total) blackout as of now. There is nothing to worry, as confirmed by armed forces officers. They are on regular vigil as always,” Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Aggarwal said in a message at 9:15 pm.
In Amritsar, an air-raid siren was sounded. “We are alert. We are enforcing a blackout,” said Amritsar Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney, urging people to stay away from windows.
The district administration has asked residents to remain calm. “We will notify you when the electricity supply is ready to be restored. Do not panic,” the message said.
In Hoshiarpur, blackout measures were also enforced in the towns of Dasuya and Mukerian.
