Shah Rukh Khan finally made his grand Met Gala debut, winning all our hearts. But hold on, it wasn’t exactly his idea. In true #DadGoals fashion, SRK revealed on the red carpet of the prestigious fashion event that it was actually his kids, Suhana, Aryan and AbRam Khan, who gave him the final push.

“I’m very nervous and excited,” SRK confessed before the big fashion night. “I’m actually very shy… I was wondering if I could just run away from this now.” Classic King Khan, always humble even when the world’s watching.

So what got him to trade his comfort zone for couture? “I have kids who are very excited about the Met. I don’t know if I would have come here on my own, but when Sabyasachi suggested it, my kids went ‘wow’,” he shared. “I didn’t know if it was ‘wow’ for me though.”

But in the end, he did what every cool dad would: showed up, suited up, and gave his kids a reason to brag. “Dad did his thing. I’ll be so cool on the carpet for my kids,” he added.

Sabyasachi also told the hosts that Shah Rukh Khan is one of the biggest stars in the world and his presence nearly caused a stampede outside their hotel when he stepped out to head to the Met Gala.

Talking about his look, he had just one request for Sabyasachi: keep it either black or white. He shared that he felt completely at ease in the luxe outfi and for him, comfort is what truly counts.

In a separate video, Shah Rukh Khan is seen introducing himself to the foreign press. With a shy smile, he leaned in and said, “I’m Shah Rukh,” as a sea of mics reached out to him. Reporters eagerly asked about his look for the night, and he graciously credited the magic to ace designer Sabyasachi Mukherji.

Shah Rukh rocked a sharp black suit, layered with multiple necklaces that added just the right amount of drama. He completed the look with a statement cane topped with a fierce tiger head.

This year’s theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, explores the rich evolution of Black fashion and its cultural influence, tracing its journey from the 18th century to contemporary expressions. Drawing inspiration from Monica L. Miller’s groundbreaking 2009 book Slaves to Fashion, the concept delves into the Black dandy as a powerful symbol of style and identity.
