Divyanka Tripathi and her husband, actor Vivek Dahiya, recently shared their shocking experience of getting robbed in Italy on Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa’s podcast. Following their confession, Haarsh also recalled a similar incident when he visited Rome with Bharti for their honeymoon. According to him, the thief was so quick that he didn’t even understand that something was stolen from him and discovered his chain was gone two days later. Haarsh explained that there were four or five robbers and in such a situation, you can’t fight. Feeling something wasn’t right, he took two steps back and the thief was already gone.
The writer and comedian recalled, “When we went to Europe for our honeymoon, I was also robbed. It happened, someone put his hand on my shoulder and said, ‘What do you want, brother? What do you want?’ I could feel from his touch that it wasn’t a normal tap. There were four or five people, so obviously, you can’t fight them. When there are four or five people, you have to run, not fight. I took two steps back and by that time, he had already disappeared. I didn’t even realise at that moment what he was doing.”
“Imagine, I didn’t understand what had happened to me and I didn’t notice it on the spot. We went to eat pizza after that and for two days I didn’t realise. The chain he stole was very thin, if it was bigger, maybe I would have noticed. It was outside my clothes. I was so careless, I was even wearing a diamond ring. Honestly, I’m telling you, if Indians are going to Rome, please be careful because chances are very high that you will be robbed. I’m sure people will get backlash for saying this but what happened to me, I can’t stay quiet about it,” Haarsh Limbachiyaa added.
Divyanka Tripathi, revealing her robbery experience in Italy, said that she wrote to the Prime Minister of that country, asking why tourists are not safe. She spoke about how Indians work hard, save money and plan vacations carefully, hoping to create happy memories, but are left disappointed when there is no protection for visitors. She explained that when they reached their resort, they decided to go for a short tour before checking in and asked the staff if it was safe to leave their luggage outside. The staff confidently said it was safe. Vivek Dahiya added that he felt the hotel staff might have been helping the thieves. He also mentioned that one of the staff members even pretended to be upset and cried with them during the incident.
