Colors is back with a new show and it is not your ordinary television drama. Titled Meri Bhavya Life, the upcoming daily soap is about body positivity wherein the lead actress stands tall against world’s judgement to weigh down an individual for the appearance. Starring Prisha Dhatwalia in the titular role and Karan Vohra as Rishank, the show is set to premiere on April 30. While the buzz around the upcoming TV drama was already high, Sonakshi Sinha’s appearance in its latest promo has only added to the anticipation.
It shows a disappointed Sonakshi as she reflects on the hypocrisy of the society who analyses an individual’s worth based on body’s shape and size instead of their work profile and character. She further pointed out how women are often body shamed and expected to lose inches to fit in. Clearly frustrated, she also highlighted how slim women are considered ideal to present an idea, implying bias against plus size individuals.
“Tum mujhe us admi se milwao jisne ye decide kia hai, slim matlab sundar aur moti matlab monster,” said Sonakshi, as she continued to express her anger in the promo. As she finished, the protagonist of the show, Prisha Dhatwalia joined her, putting out the most important question – Mota hona ya motape ke aage dekh na paana…Kya badi bimari hai?
The promo was shared by official page of Colors TV on Instagram. The side note read, “Bhavya ko mila Sonakshi ka saath – ab hoga sawaalon se hisaab! Aa rahi hai woh unn sab ki awaaz banne, jo hain izzat ke haqdaar. Dekhiye Meri Bhavya Life 30 April se, har roz shaam 7 baje, sirf Colors aur Jio Hotstar par.”
In terms of film career, Sonakshi Sinha is set to return to the silver screen with her upcoming psychological thriller, Nikita Roy. The film also stars Arjun Rampal, Paresh Rawal and Suhail Nayyar in pivotal roles.
In a joint statement to PTI, the producers of the film Nickky Bhagnani and Viicky Bhagnani, said, “This film is very close to our hearts. It dares to tread where most mainstream films don’t and explores a genre we truly believe audiences are ready for. With a powerful cast, a gripping narrative, and Kussh S Sinha’s unique vision, we can’t wait for the world to experience ‘Nikita Roy’ on the big screen.”
Nikita Roy will release in the worldwide theatres on May 30.
