Rising Bharat Summit: Union Minister and LJP leader Chirag Paswan on Wednesday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that the latter heeds to the NDA allies and its members.

While speaking at News18’s Rising Bharat Summit in New Delhi, Paswan said that he had raised the lateral entry issue with Prime Minister and he acknowledged it and immediately withdrew the decision.

“I raised the lateral entry issue with PM, he acknowledged it and immediately withdrew the decision,” he said.

The Union Minister further took a veiled dig at opposition parties for challenging the Waqf Law in the Supreme Court, saying that they were fine with a poor Muslim not having a recourse to got to court under the old Waqf system.

“Those who have gone to Supreme Court against Waqf Amendment Bill were fine with a poor Muslim not having a recourse to go to Court under the old Waqf system,” he said.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Modi in his keynote address at the summit, hailed the recently enacted Waqf Law and dubbed the protests by the Opposition as “appeasement politics” saying that the rights of poor pasmanda Muslims, women, and children will now be ensured under the new law.

“The politics of appeasement has been a big challenge in India’s growth. Recently, the law related to Waqf was amended in Parliament. Your network has also discussed this a lot. This debate related to Waqf has the politics of appeasement at its core,” PM Modi stated at the event.

Several Opposition parties and Muslim groups voiced their protest and moved to the Apex Court against the Waqf Act. The Supreme Court has also agreed to hear petitions challenging the law on April 15.

While speaking about the seat distribution among the alliance for the upcoming Bihar Legislative Assembly Elections, the LJP leader said that no decision has been finalised yet but he hoped that every alliance partner would get respectful number of seats.

“No discussion has been done yet on the seat distribution in Bihar. We trust that everyone will get respectful number of seats,” he said.

The NDA alliance partners in Bihar include the BJP, Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United), Chirag Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awami Morcha (HAM), and Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP).

The Bihar assembly elections are scheduled to happen later this year.
