Yash begins shooting as Raavana in Nitesh Tiwari’s epic Ramayana alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Sunny Deol.
The highly anticipated epic Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is steadily becoming one of the most ambitious projects in Indian cinema. Featuring a stellar cast that includes Yash, Ranbir Kapoor, Sunny Deol, and Sai Pallavi, the film has already generated monumental buzz—and now, a major update is here. Pinkvilla has learned that Yash, who not only stars as Raavana but is also co-producing the film, is set to begin shooting his solo sequences this week in Mumbai.
According to industry sources, the KGF star wrapped up a significant schedule of his upcoming film Toxic and is now ready to step into the mythical world of Ramayana. As is tradition for the superstar, Yash marked the beginning of this new chapter with a spiritual visit to the revered Shree Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain.
“Yash is all set to kickstart his journey on Ramayana with a series of solo sequences. A bespoke set has been erected in Mumbai, designed to reflect the grandeur befitting Raavana,” a source close to the production revealed. “This first leg will focus on some of the most visually breathtaking scenes featuring Yash, utilizing cutting-edge VFX and world-class cinematography.”
Ramayana will be a two-part cinematic spectacle, with its first installment eyeing a Diwali 2026 release and the second slated for Diwali 2027. Ranbir Kapoor will portray Lord Ram, while Sunny Deol joins the cast as Lord Hanuman—he’s expected to begin filming his portions in June.
The film is being produced by DNEG and Yash’s own Monster Mind Creations, with the actor playing a hands-on role behind the scenes. “Yash is deeply involved in the creative direction of the film. His commitment to Ramayana goes beyond performance—he’s helping shape the visual and emotional landscape of this epic retelling,” the source added.
Following the massive success of KGF and KGF: Chapter 2, Yash is poised to dominate 2026 with back-to-back global releases. He will headline Toxic, a stylized action thriller shot in Kannada and English, set for a March 2026 release. With Ramayana following in October the same year, Yash is undoubtedly gearing up for an era-defining year at the box office.
