Mustafabad Building Collapse: The teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Delhi Police rescued 22 people.

The death toll in Delhi’s Mustafabad area building collapse mounted to eleven, including two women and three children. The rescue operations ended, and 22 people were taken out from under the debris, police said.

The teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Delhi Police carried out the rescue operation, said officials.

CCTV footage captured the moment when the four-storey L-shaped building collapsed. In another video shared by news agency ANI, locals were seen assisting rescue teams in clearing debris following the house collapse.

Rajendra Atwal, Divisional Fire Officer, said a call regarding the house collapse was received around 2:50 am on Saturday, following which rescue teams rushed to the spot.

“We received a call regarding a house collapse around 2:50 am…we reached the spot and found out that the entire building had collapsed and people were trapped under the debris…NDRF and Delhi Fire Service are working to rescue the people,” he said.

Sandeep Lamba, Additional DCP of North East District, said that 14 people have been rescued so far. He confirmed that it was a four-storey building and that the rescue operation is still ongoing, with 8 to 10 people feared trapped under the debris.

PM Modi Expresses Grief, Announces Ex-Gratia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the tragic incident and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of deceased and Rs 50,000 to those injured.

“Saddened by the loss of lives due to a building collapse in Dayalpur area of North East Delhi. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. The local administration is assisting those affected. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000,” PMO said in a post on X.

President Murmu Expresses Condolences

President Droupadi Murmu expressed her deepest condolences to all the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

“The news of the death of many people, including children and women, in the unfortunate incident of the collapse of a building in Mustafabad, Delhi, is extremely sad. I express my deepest condolences to all the bereaved families. I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured,” she wrote on X.

Delhi CM On House Collapse

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident on Saturday and announced that orders have been issued to investigate the same.

“DDMA, NDRF, DFS and other agencies are continuously engaged in relief and rescue operations. Arrangements have been made for proper treatment of all the injured,” she said in an X post.

“My deepest condolences to those who died in this unfortunate accident. May God grant peace to the departed souls and give strength to the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss,” she added.

The house collapse incident occurred just hours after a sudden shift in Delhi’s weather on Friday night when heavy rainfall and thunderstorms lashed several parts of the city.

In a separate incident last week, a wall of an under-construction building collapsed during a severe dust storm near Madhu Vihar police station, leaving one person dead and two others injured.
