Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun Dhawan’s Amazon Prime show, Citadel: Honey Bunny, will not be renewed for a second season. The second season of the Indian spin-off of Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden’s show has been cancelled. Even the Italian spin-off, Diana, has been cancelled after one season. The storylines from these shows will merge in Priyanka and Richard’s show in the second season.
Vernon Sanders, Head of Television at Amazon MGM Studios, said, “Having successfully traversed India and Italy, storylines from both Citadel: Honey Bunny and Citadel: Diana will be woven into the upcoming second season of the mothership series Citadel.”
He added, “While these successful and widely enjoyed international chapters will not continue as individual series, Season 2 of Citadel will be our most exhilarating yet. With high-stakes storytelling, new additions to our amazing cast and bold, cinematic ambition, the new season will deepen the emotional journeys of Nadia, Mason and Orlick against the relentless force that is Manticore. We’re excited to share what’s next when Citadel Season 2 premieres globally in Q2 of 2026.”
This comes after the exit of Jennifer Salke as the Head of Amazon MGM Studios. Jennifer greenlit the Citadel series, and many of her approved projects are now facing uncertainty. Reportedly, Sophie Turner’s Tomb Raider series will also not be renewed. However, there is no official confirmation on this yet.
However, the cancellation of Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s show has come as a shock to fans, as the show was recently nominated at the 30th Critics Choice Awards 2025 in the Best Foreign Language Series category. Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu are yet to react to this news. Directors Raj and DK have also not reacted to this yet. Meanwhile, fans are also excited to see how the narrative of the show will intertwine with Priyanka Chopra’s series, maybe even resulting in thrilling cameos.
