Kritika Kamra reportedly signed as one of the leads in Anusha Rizvi’s upcoming movie.

Actress Kritika Kamra, renowned for her roles in notable projects like Bheed, Bambai Meri Jaan and Gyaarah Gyaarah, is gearing up for her upcoming project. The Kuch Toh Log Kahenge actress has recently joined hands with ace director Anusha Rizvi, known for her critically acclaimed movie Peepli Live. Kritika has reportedly been roped in as one of the leads in Anusha’s upcoming women-led directorial film.
According to the report published by Filmibeat, Kritika Kamra will be sharing screen space alongside an ensemble cast, including Sheeba Chaddha and Shreya Dhanwanthary. A source close to the production house talked about the film’s compelling narrative and shoot schedule. “We are thrilled to bring together such a talented team for this project. The narrative is both powerful and timely, and we believe it will resonate deeply with the audiences,” said the source, adding, “The project is set to begin filming this week in Delhi. The cast is currently in the middle of prep workshops in Delhi.”
The compelling women-centric movie is directed by Anusha Rizvi, making her promising return to feature filmmaking. For those unaware, Rizvi made a directorial debut with the thought-provoking film Peepli Live, which also won the Best First Film Award at the Durban Film Festival and the Gollapudi Srinivas Award. However, following the success of her movie, she embarked on a different journey in the direction lines. The journalist-turned-director worked for a National Geographic documentary, Hijack IC-814, and two BBC documentaries titled Amul and Khadi.
Coming to Anusha’s current project – a women-centric film, being produced by Jio Studios is set against the vibrant backdrop of Delhi. It will showcase the strength and resilience of its female leads in the society. As per reports, the principal photography for the film has already begun earlier this month and will continue till mid-May.
Coming to Kritika Kamra’s diverse professional front, she was last seen in the 2024-released series Gyaarah Gyaarah, in the role of Vamika Rawat. Besides Anusha’s upcoming project, the filming of Kamra’s yet another series, titled Matka King is also ongoing.
On the other hand, Sheeba Chaddha, who has been part of a number of films and web series, last appeared in Kaushaljis vs Kaushal produced by Studios, Merry Go Round Studios and Mumbai Talkeez. It premiered on JioHotstar on February 21. On the other hand, Shreya Dhanwanthary last played the role of Dr Shruthi Rawat in the 2024-released supernatural horror film Adbhut.
