A massive fire broke out at the Lok Bandhu hospital in Lucknow on Monday night, prompting intense firefighting operations to bring the situation under control. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath spoke to officials and took note of the incident.
The fire reportedly originated on the second floor of the hospital, encasing the entire building in thick smoke and sparking panic among the staff and patients. Firefighters worked at full throttle to bring the situation under control with the help of senior administrative officers, who reached the spot soon after the fire broke out.
No injuries or casualties have been reported from the blaze so far. At least 200 patients in the hospital were safely shifted to other centres. The exact cause of the fire is still unknown.

According to several reports, there were at least 35-40 patients admitted on the floor when the fire broke out, causing both the staff and patients to run for safety. The electricity in the hospital was shut down and people had to find their way in the dark.
“A fire broke out in Lok Bandhu Hospital. All 200 patients were safely shifted. There has been no case of casualty or injury. Fire officials are currently inside the building and trying to control the fire,” said UP Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak.
The fire was brought under control without any casualties. “They initiated the rescue operation. ICU, a female ward and another ward were affected. All the patients from these wards have been rescued. They have been referred to 3 hospitals,” said District Magistrate Visakh G Iyer.
Police Commissioner Amarendra Singh Sengar also confirmed that all patients had been evacuated and shifted to nearby hospitals. Officials are looking into the cause of the fire and further safety measures.
