At least six workers lost their lives and seven others sustained injuries after an explosion at a fireworks manufacturing plant in Andhra Pradesh’s Anakapalli district on Sunday.
Upon receiving the information, fire department personnel and police reached the spot and began the rescue operations.
The injured were taken to the hospital for treatment.
All the victims in the incident belonged to the Samarlakota locality of the Kakinada district.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has also expressed shock over the death of six workers in the explosion. According to the CMO, the Chief Minister spoke with the District Collector, Superintendent of Police, and state Home Minister Anitha to gather details about the incident.
He directed officials to ensure the injured received the best possible medical care. He assured them the government would support the victims’ families and urged them to stay strong. He instructed officials to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and submit a report to him.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that the condition of two of the injured workers is critical.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed condolences to those who lost their loved ones in the tragic incident. An ex-gratia of Rs 2 from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased.

The local administration is assisting those affected. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000: PM @narendramodi,” the PMO wrote on X.
