Celebrity MasterChef, the Farah Khan-hosted cooking-based reality show, has finally ended, and the viewers have got their first winner, Gaurav Khanna. The finale episode was high on fun, drama and some emotional moments. While presenting his last dish in front of the judges, he became emotional and referred to previous allegations, stating he had poured ‘accusations and everything’ onto the plate, seemingly reacting to the recent charges of imitating a Swiss chef’s dessert.
During the Grand Finale episode, Gaurav got teary-eyed as his family couldn’t arrive to support him. He stated, “Until now, as an actor, I had never cried on camera. This is my first reality show, and I used to believe that there’s nothing real in reality shows. But I was wrong. This show focuses on reality- competitions, starting at the bottom and accusations. I’ve put everything out there. I poured everything on that dish. The last.”
Celebrity Chef Sanjeev Kapoor, who arrived at the Finale as a special guest, advised him, “Ab tak shayad emotions se bhag kar yahan tak pohche ho. Aaj se zindagi shuru karo, emotions se jud ke. (Perhaps you got here by running away from your feelings. Begin your new life now by embracing those emotions).” All the judges then came and hugged the actor to motivate him in his journey ahead.
His final dish delighted all the judges, especially Chef Sanjeev Kapoor. The dessert was the highlight of the finale, not only because it was delicious but also because of its amazing presentation.
Recently, Gaurav came under scrutiny due to the authenticity of his dessert during one of the episodes. He was accused of copying a honey-dripping dish created by Swiss chef Josia Reichen. The feud began when Chef Reichen shared the show’s promo on Instagram, alleging similarities between his creation and the actor’s meal.
As the Anupamaa fame actor won the trophy, Nikki Tamboli emerged as the first runner-up, followed by Tejasswi Prakash as the second runner-up. However, Faisal Shaikh and Rajiv Adatia were also among the top 5 contenders.
