Fans loved Ayushmann Khurrana and Nushrratt Bharrucha’s chemistry in the hit film, Dream Girl. However, when the film’s sequel was released, they were surprised to see Nushrratt ousted from the franchise. She was replaced by Ananya Panday in Dream Girl 2. Nushrratt has always been vocal about being upset over this decision and again, in a recent chat, expressed that she found it unfair.
She told Nayandeep Rakshit, “It hurt me even more when I was not a part of my own sequel also. Every other actor was the same, except the girl, which I felt was not cool na, guys? It’s just not cool. Theek hai, no problem.”
When asked if she fought to be a part of the film, she said, “No, Nayan. I’ll be honest with you. I can’t fight something I know is not going to change in any way, where I know there is no… What do I fight? What am I going to say? ‘Why not me?’ They’ll say, “We don’t want you.’ That’s the truth of it. It ends there. Eventually, it’s a choice somebody’s making. I cannot question your choice.”
Previously, in an earlier conversation with The Indian Express, Ayushmann Khurrana opened up about Ananya Panday stepping into the shoes of Nushratt Bharuccha. Ayushmann was quoted as saying, “This is an organic sequel to Dream Girl. We had to cast a different film, and Ananya fit the bill. I think she is very spunky and adds value to the film. The way she has taken the accent in the film, the Mathura accent, is very commendable. It was fun working with her and I would love to work with her in the future as well.”
Meanwhile, Nushrratt is currently seen in Chhorii 2 with Soha Ali Khan. The film is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video and is receiving largely positive reviews. As for Ananya Panday, she will soon be seen in Kesari 2 with Akshay Kumar and R Madhavan.
