Nushrratt Bharuccha recently had a heartfelt encounter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during CNN-News18’s Rising Bharat Summit in New Delhi. The actress, who was among the Indian citizens stranded in Israel during the 2023 conflict, took to her Instagram to share her gratitude and pictures from their meeting.
“Truly honoured and deeply grateful for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the CNN-News18 Rising Bharat Summit,” Nushrratt wrote. “It was an incredible privilege to thank you in person, Modi Ji, for your unwavering leadership and the swift action taken by your government to bring back Indian citizens, including myself, stranded in Israel during the recent conflict.”
She added a message in Gujarati, saying, “Aap no aa mulakat badal khub khub aabhar… Maari mate aa zindagi bhar ni yaadgir reh se,” expressing her deep appreciation for the opportunity to meet him.
A video from the summit shows Nushrratt greeting PM Modi with folded hands. In the brief yet emotional exchange, PM Modi can be heard telling her, “Bahut sankat tha aapke liye… acha hua aapne turant message kar diya.” Nushrratt responded warmly, saying, “Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.”
In 2023, Nushrratt found herself stranded in war-hit Israel while attending the Haifa International Film Festival. She was rescued after a tense period and returned home safely. Speaking at the Rising Bharat Summit on Tuesday, she reflected on the incident and the trauma she experienced.
“It was a situation nobody can prepare you for. Even books cannot teach you how to act in situations like that. In just 12 hours, I learnt what feeling helpless meant. We think we are very smart, well-educated people. But life hits you with a situation where none of these things matter,” she said.
Describing it as the most difficult time of her life, Nushrratt shared, “Those were the toughest few hours of my life. I did not think that I would be able to see my family or friends again. I was going through the flashes. I thought this was it, it was done.”
She concluded by thanking PM Modi and Indian authorities for ensuring the safe return of all Indian citizens.
