Television actor Manish Goel is currently part of Rajan Shahi’s popular show Anupamaa. The family drama, starring Rupali Ganguly in the titular role, has consistently remained a top-rated show since its premiere with its gripping storyline and unexpected twists and turns. However, maintaining this position at the weekly TRP (Television Rating Point) ratings comes with its own set of challenges.

Speaking about the constant race of TRP numbers, Goel voiced his concerns about the pressure television shows face due to weekly TRP ratings. He highlighted the anxiety that looms over cast and crew members due to the weekly performance reports.

In a chat with the Bombay Times, Manish Goel spoke about the current trend of abruptly ending TV shows. Expressing disappointment over how quickly shows are judged, the actor shared that he feels every show deserves at least six months to connect with its audience before being evaluated.

During the interaction, he said, “Today, shows are often axed within a few months, and it’s disheartening to see the entire team and actors bearing the consequences. My suggestion is simple: give every show at least six months to find its audience. Relying on a week’s TRP ratings to determine a show’s fate isn’t fair.”

In the same conversation, the actor also opened up on how television has come a long way in showcasing women in powerful and different roles, from chefs to astronauts. Manish appreciated this positive change but also questioned why male-led stories are not being explored on TV.

Reflecting on his role in Anupamaa, the actor shared that he is satisfied with his role. However, he believes that if the show has a compelling narrative and is packed with unexpected twists, male-centric shows could thrive just as well. He stated that in today’s content-driven entertainment world, strong writing is ‘truly the king.’

Manish Goel entered the show to play Raahi’s biological father, Raghav. Talking about Rupali Ganguly-led Anupamaa, the show features Adrija Roy and Shivam Khajuria, Alpana Buch, Rahil Azam, Zalak Desai, and others in pivotal roles. The new additions of Manish Goel and Randeep Rai to the show have been winning over the audiences.
