A heartwarming throwback video of Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan has taken the internet by storm, reminding fans once again of their timeless chemistry. Married for over 51 years, the iconic Bollywood couple’s playful moment from a 1983 concert in the US is now going viral and fans can’t get enough.
In the resurfaced clip shared by Lehren TV, Amitabh is seen performing his iconic song Mere Angne Mein from the film Laawaris. Dressed in a sleek black suit, Big B is mid-performance in front of a packed live audience when Jaya walks onto the stage. What happens next has social media gushing. Amitabh lifts Jaya into his arms and twirls her around, all while singing the cheeky lyrics, “Jiski biwi chhoti, uska bhi bada naam hai… gode mein bitha lo, bachhe ka kya kaam hai.”
The video captured the audience’s roaring laughter and applause, but more importantly, it captured a candid, joyful moment between two Bollywood legends. Fans flooded the internet with reactions. One Reddit user wrote, “What an era this was.” Another said, “This is a cute husband-wife moment,” while many others chimed in with “So cool” and “That made my day.”
Amitabh and Jaya first met on the sets of Guddi and went on to star in several iconic films together including Silsila, Abhimaan, and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. They tied the knot on June 3, 1973, in an intimate ceremony surrounded by close friends and family.
In a 1998 episode of Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, Jaya was asked if Amitabh was romantic. She laughed and replied, “No, not with me. (laughing out loud) I’ve started trouble. He is very shy.” Amitabh agreed, joking, “Yeah, it is such a waste of time.”
On the work front, Amitabh was last seen in Vettaiyan, his Tamil debut, starring alongside Rajinikanth and Fahadh Faasil. He is next set to appear in Kalki 2898 AD’s sequel with Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan. He also has Section 84 with Diana Penty and Nimrat Kaur lined up, directed by Ribhu Dasgupta.
