Last month, the makers announced the release date of Bhool Chuk Maaf with a rib-tickling video. They captioned it, “Stree 2 me hasane ke baad, Rajkummar Rao is back with a rib-tickling comedy! Dinesh Vijan and Maddock Films bring 2025’s most hilarious and bhasadwaali shaadi. Kya Rajkummar Rao aur Wamiqa Gabbi ki shaadi ho paayegi? Find out in Karan Sharma’s rom-com Bhool Chuk Maaf, in cinemas on 9th May.”

The heartwarming romantic comedy is directed and written by Karan Sharma. Set in the vibrant lanes of Varanasi, the formula of a small-town romance has mostly found success in Bollywood due to its relatability. Bhool Chuk Maaf is backed by Dinesh Vijan, maker of Stree 2, Luka Chuppi and Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, in association with Amazon MGM Studios.

On the work front, Pratik Gandhi and Patralekhaa’s upcoming film, Phule, has been postponed owing to multiple controversies. Reportedly, the film has upset the Brahmin community, alleging it promotes casteism. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has asked the makers to make multiple edits to the film before release. Phule will now be released after two weeks – April 25, 2025, instead of April 11, 2025.

The Brahmin Federation President Anand Dave watched the trailer of Phule and claimed that it promotes casteism. He also demanded that the contribution of the ‘black Brahmin’ community in aiding the Phules should be acknowledged. Amid the controversy, former state minister Chhagan Bhujbal met director Ananth Mahadevan and the producers to address the controversy.
