The legacy of CID is getting a fresh chapter, and stepping into the spotlight is none other than television heartthrob Parth Samthaan. The actor has officially replaced veteran Shivaji Satam, who played the iconic ACP Pradyuman for decades. With Pradyuman’s character being killed off in a recent episode by Barbosa (played by Tigmanshu Dhulia), leader of the nefarious Eye Gang, the show introduces a new lead: ACP Ayushmann.
Parth Samthaan, known for his versatile performances in television and web series, will be playing the role. In a new chat with HT, Parth said he had doubts about taking on the role. He said, “Initially, I rejected the role of ACP Pradyuman, because I don’t relate to it. But the makers asked me to reconsider. I was also hesitant due to the show’s long-standing cast and the fact that they’d have to address me as ‘sir’ on screen. It felt a bit unusual and awkward.”
When asked about the social media backlash for playing ACP Pradyuman, Parth chose to focus on the positive reactions. He said, “I was waiting for the right opportunity to make my comeback on TV. I was offered a few scripts, but they were all similar, romantic roles. When this show was offered to me, I decided to take on the challenge.”

Parth Samthaan, born on March 11, 1991, gained fame as Manik Malhotra in MTV’s Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan (2014). He started with episodic roles in shows like Savdhaan India and Yeh Hai Aashiqui before starring in Gumrah and Best Friends Forever? In 2016, Parth released his single Jind Meri Royi Royi. He later played Anurag Basu in Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 and appeared in films like Hamare Baarah and Ghudchadi (2023). Parth also has a strong social media following with 3.9 million Instagram followers.
