Nithya Menen Birthday: Nithya Menen is celebrating her 37th birthday today, April 8. She is one of the most renowned actresses in South cinema. Over the years, she has acted in Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada and Telugu films and impressed audiences with her performances. Some of her notable films include Ala Modalaindi, Ustad Hotel, Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde, O Kadhal Kanmani and Kotigobba 2. In 2019, she made her Bollywood debut in Mission Mangal.
Menen won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in Tamil movie, Thiruchitrambalam.

- Thiruchitrambalam (2022): It’s a romantic comedy-drama directed by Mithran R Jawahar. The film revolves around Thiruchitrambalam (played by Dhanush), a man who experiences a series of personal struggles and emotional challenges, while navigating his relationships with family and friends. Nithya Menen played the role of Shobana, the love interest of Thiruchitrambalam, bringing depth and charm to the character. Nithya was honoured with National Film Award for the Best Actress for her performance.
- Ala Modalaindi (2011): Ala Modalaindi marked Nithya’s debut in Telugu cinema. It is a romantic comedy where she starred opposite Nani. The film was directed by B. V. Nandini Reddy and became a hit for its light-hearted story and strong performances. It was later remade in Tamil as Yennamo Yedho and in Kannada as Bhale Jodi.
- Ustad Hotel (2012): Directed by Anwar Rasheed, Ustad Hotel is a Malayalam drama that features Nithya alongside Dulquer Salmaan. The film tells the story of Faizi, a young man who wants to become a chef. When his father stops him from going abroad, he ends up working at his grandfather’s small restaurant in Kozhikode. Alongside the leads, the film stars, Thilakan,Siddique,Mamukkoya andLena.
- Ishq (2012): In Ishq, Nithya plays Priya, a young woman who finds herself drawn to a stranger she meets during a delayed flight. What begins as a simple connection turns complicated when she discovers his troubled history with her brother. The film, directed by Vikram Kumar, became popular for its engaging storyline and the easy chemistry between Nithya and Nithiin.
- Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde (2013): Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde is a Telugu romantic comedy featuring Nithya, Nithiin and Isha Talwar. Nithya’s lively performance made her a fan favourite. It was later remade in Kannada and Meitei.
- O Kadhal Kanmani (2015): O Kadhal Kanmani tells the story of a young couple in Mumbai who choose to live together instead of getting married. Nithya plays Tara, a confident and independent woman, starring opposite Dulquer Salmaan. The film was directed by Mani Ratnam and also features Prakash Raj and Leela Samson. It was later remade in Hindi as Ok Jaanu that featured Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur in the lead.
- Malli Malli Idi Rani Roju (2015): Malli Malli Idi Rani Roju is one of the standout films in Nithya’s career. She stars alongside Sharwanand in this emotional love story directed by Kranthi Madhav. Nithya’s performance was widely praised and she won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress – South for her role.
- Mersal (2017): Mersal is a Tamil action thriller directed by Atlee, starring Vijay in three different roles. The story follows two brothers of which one is a magician who exposes medical scams while the other is doctor who helps the poor. Nithya plays Aishwarya, the wife of one of Vijay’s characters.
- Mission Mangal (2019): Directed by Jagan Shakti, Mission Mangal is based on India’s first mission to Mars. It tells the story of a group of ISRO scientists who work together to make the Mars Orbiter Mission a success. Nithya made her Hindi film debut with this movie where she starred alongside Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha and others.
