As per the reports, two pilots were aboard the aircraft. One pilot ejected safely from the aircraft, while the search for the other one is on.

Indian Air Force’s (IAF) aircraft has crashed in Gujarat’s Jamnagar on Wednesday, defence sources said.

As per the reports, two pilots were aboard the aircraft, which was on a routine training sortie. One pilot ejected safely from the aircraft, while the search for the other one is on.

“There were two pilots in the (Jaguar) trainer aircraft of the Air Force. One has been rescued and taken to the hospital. Operations are underway to rescue the other pilot…” Jamnagar SP Premsukh Delu told news agency ANI.

Jamnagar Collector Ketan Thakkar said, “An aircraft of the Air Force has crashed in the district of Jamnagar. One pilot has been rescued and shifted to hospital. The fire team is present at the spot and has doused the fire. Air Force team, fire team, Police and other teams are present here for the rescue…The civilian area has not been affected…The aircraft crashed in an open ground…”

The incident took place in Suwarda village, nearly 12km from Jamnagar where an aircraft crashed into a field. After the crash, a large cloud of smoke engulfed the entire area. Later, several burning pieces and debris of the plane could be seen scattered on the ground.
