Days after Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer L2 Empuraan hit theatres, it has now been reported that the makers of the film are likely to make certain changes to it. As reported by News18 Malayalam, the producers of Empuraan have decided to make 17 cuts to the film. Besides this, some dialogues from the film will also be muted. The name of the Villan, Baba Bajrangi, will also be changed.
The decision comes after certain Hindu organisations in the state allegedly claimed that L2 Empuraan vilifies their religion. More details about this are awaited.
Starring Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead, L2: Empuraan is a political action thriller film. Helmed by Prithviraj himself, it is the sequel to the 2019 hit Malayalam film Lucifer. Jointly produced by Antony Perumbavoor and Gokulam Gopalan under the banners of Aashirvad Cinemas Pvt Ltd and Sree Gokulam Movies, the film features an ensemble cast including Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Abhimanyu Singh and Suraj Venjaramoodu in significant roles.
Empuraan received majorly positive reviews from all. News18 Showsha’s review of the film read, “Despite its dense plot, Empuraan serves as a standalone film. While it is still a sequel to Lucifer, it just takes the plot to a new dimension where the stakes are humongous. Two narratives unfold simultaneously. One is about the local problem in Kerala, which requires the return of Stephen, and the second one deals with an international conflict between two crime syndicates. Prithviraj and Murali Gopy manage to find a common point to merge the two narratives, which feels a bit forced. However, the direction and the writing do convince you and buy into the plot.
In just two days, the film has crossed Rs 50 crore mark in India.
