The Diplomat Box Office Collection Day 1.
John Abraham is back on the big screen, but this time, he’s ditching the action-packed stunts for a high-stakes political thriller—and audiences seem to be on board! The Diplomat had a solid start at the box office, collecting Rs 4 crore on its opening day.
Even with Vicky Kaushal’s historical epic Chhaava ruling the box office, John Abraham’s The Diplomat managed to hold its ground with a respectable start on Friday, March 14. The political thriller carved out its own space despite the intense competition.
Boosted by the Holi festivities, The Diplomat made a strong entry at the box office, emerging as a worthy alternative for moviegoers after Chhaava. While Vicky Kaushal’s period drama continued its reign, raking in Rs 7.25 crore on its fifth Friday (March 14), The Diplomat still found its audience.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, John Abraham’s action-packed patriotic thriller kicked off its box office journey with a Rs 4 crore opening on Friday. With the weekend ahead, the film’s earnings are expected to see a significant boost as more moviegoers flock to theatres.
Directed by Shivam Nair, The Diplomat also saw a promising Rs 2-2.5 crore in pre-release ticket sales, hinting at a strong run in the coming days.
On March 14, The Diplomat saw a steady rise in footfall throughout the day, recording an overall occupancy of 20.45%, as per Sacnilk.
– Morning shows: 7.31 per cent
– Afternoon shows: 19.42 per cent
– Evening peak: 28.50 per cent
– Night shows dipped slightly: 26.56 per cent
Among cities, Chennai led the charge with an impressive 75.33 per cent occupancy, followed by Bhopal (29.50 per cent) and Kolkata (29 per cent). With numbers improving as the day progressed, The Diplomat seems to be gaining momentum at the box office.
A part of the review by News18 read, “On paper, this film has all the right ingredients for a gripping political thriller. It keeps us hooked with edge-of-the-seat moments, a tight background score and a somewhat solid narrative structure. But while it packs a punch, it doesn’t quite land a knockout.”
