Karan Johar talks about burying old hatchets with Kartik Aaryan.
Looks like Karan Johar and Kartik Aaryan have finally buried old hatchets. Before taking on the stage as the hosts of IIFA 2025, KJo addressed rift rumours with Kartik at the green carpet even on March 8. The filmmaker-producer said that he is looking forward to a great ‘dostana’ with Kartik, directly clearing the air about the matter.
In 2019, Karan announced that he has roped in Kartik as one of the leads of Dostana 2. Just when fans expected more buzz around the project, Dharma Productions confirmed that the film would undergo a recast, fuelling rumours of brimming tension between Karan and Kartik. However, looks like all’s well between the duo now.
“Kartik and I are doing a movie together, so it’s only natural that we host together,” Karan said. “There’s nothing to it. It’s all in the past. We’re looking forward to a great ‘dostana’ ahead,” said Karan at IIFA 2025 green carpet event.
Karan also expressed his desire with work with Shah Rukh Khan again, after delivering blockbusters such as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, My Name Is Khan, and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. “It would be my honor and privilege to make another film with Shah Rukh,” KJo said.
Meanwhile, Karan Johar and Kartik Aaryan’s collaboration only starts from IIFA hosting. The actor has finally set foot in the world of Dharma Productions. He and KJo recently announced their collaboration together with the title reveal of their upcoming film, Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri. The romantic comedy is helmed by Sameer Vidwans, who previously directed Kartik and Kiara Advani’s 2023 film, Satyaprem Ki Katha.
Previously, Kartik had addressed his fallout with KJo in an interview with Lallantop. He said, “I was silent when the news came about and I choose to stay silent even now. I am 100% focused on my work and when controversies of such nature happen, I stay calm about them. I don’t get involved a lot in them and I don’t have to prove anything to anyone by getting involved.”
